FAQ
Where can I find more information on Mscan Meteo?
You can find information on this site and you can download a free but
fully functional trial version of Mscan Meteo here.
What device can be used to receiving marine weather reports?
Any SSB radio with an audio output, preferably radios which support
USB and have general coverage from 500 kHz to 30 MHz, can be used with
Mscan Meteo. For some models (like all ICOM radios) remote control is
possible, eliminating the need for manual frequency control.
Can Mscan Meteo be used to receive NAVTEX warnings?
Yes. Various criteria can be applied to receive only those messages
you are interested in.
The program supports FAX, NAVTEX, RTTY, VOICE and GRIB. What does this mean?
FAX stands for weather fax, these are charts and satellite images
transmitted on shortwave bands. NAVTEX are navigational warnings, i.e.
short text messages warning you for storms, gunnery exercises, buoys
adrift etc. RTTY stands for Radio TeleTYpe. Some stations transmit
extensive weather reports in this mode. VOICE is for making short
audio recordings, generally spoken weather reports. GRIB files are
compact email messages containing meteorological information. They can
be requested and viewed using Mscan Meteo’s GRIB viewer.
I can’t find Mscan SSTV anymore, where is it?
