I would think if you override remote control the radio will do whatever you tell it to do, but I cannot be sure as I am not familiar with this model. Try asking the manufacturer or their support forum.

I am running Mscan under Pactor IIPro (with III upgrade) using an Icom IC-M802 transceiver. When the program comes up, the LCD display on the Icom head changes to "Remote" and the receive frequency display changes to the fax frequency. The transmit frequency display stays at the original frequency (that is, the frequency active before bringing up Mscan). If I hit Tune on the radio head, the "TX" characters flash next to the frequency shown in the transmit display area. But that is the original frequency, not the fax frequency. Which station is actually getting tuned?

Hi Mike,

Thanks for your quick response. Actually, there were other requests (dated 2011) for this enhancement (see thread http://mscan.com/mscan_forum/index.php?topic=206.0).

As I mentioned in my email, I was able to communicate with the pactor 4 -- and the program did change the station according to the schedule.

However, the signal monitor visual in the upper right corner of the program briefly flashes
a frozen signal pattern and then disappears. The program does not receive the fax when
the start signal is emitted and the manual start button also has no effect.

I can give you more details on the messages displayed and lights showing in the
pactor if that would help.

After this failure, I switched to Airmail and was able to manually receive the fax.
That fax software does not support the auto scheduling feature that you do and is a less
attractive option.

I don't know what would be involved in extending MSCAN to support the new Pactor, but it seems
the program is really close to supporting it. As people buy pactors (or upgrade from older pactors once they stop working) they will want the newer pactor version. It sure would be great to be able to use MSCAN with the new hardware.

Hi Kandb, welcome to the forum. This is not a bug so I have moved your post to the Feature Requests forum. It is unfortunate the developers of the pactor modems find it necessary to keep breaking compatibility, and I have asked them many times not to do this. In vain. As you can see you are the first to request this so it is not likely support for new pactor modems will be added soon. Please note reception will be much better when using the sound card, which is why most of my clients take this route whether they own a pactor modem or not.

I'll keep monitoring the votes this request gets.

We just upgraded from the Pactor IIPro and cannot get MSCAN to work. The sound card solution is not a
feasible option, as it doesn't support automatic scheduling.

We noticed a thread from a few years ago discussing compatibility of Mscan with the Pactor 4 modems. At the
time, you mentioned you may support this modem if you got enough requests.

We've used Mscan since 2002 (upgrading in 2005 and 2012) and really love the program. We are running the
latest version of Mscan available from your website.

Any chance you will add support for Pactor 4?

I checked my files and cannot find a licence in your name, nor can I find anything for your email address. So either it is a very long time ago, or you are confused and mean some other program (as Mscan Meteo does not decode SSTV). Whatever the case, I cannot help you other than suggesting to buy the latest version.

I Purchased MSCAN METEO many years ago.  I used the program a lot to capture sat images, sstv & decode fax etc. My PC burst into flames after my local electricity company wrongly connected a generator to supply power to my village whilst transformer repairs were carried out. That was over year ago & I lost the MSCAN METEO programme & the code I kept in a text file on the Hard Drive. I am now an intermediate licensed amateur & really want to use the program to its full extent. What details do you need in order to verify I am a true customer and purchased the program from you?

Regards, Andrew Carden (BSc.Hon's). 2e0pob.

I just checked and Avast does not report a virus here, so it does not look like a false positive. Looks like your system is infected. Good luck with that!

Are you referring to a download, or an installed version?

Today my Avast antivirus has blocked MscanMeteo claiming it was infected with Win32:Dropper-Gen(DRP).
Any other similar event ? Or a false positive ?
Thanks Manlio
